Invicta Building Services Ltd, based in West Peckham, Kent, has won the prestigious Domestic Heating Contractor of the Year at the heating and ventilation industry's H&V Awards 2007.  Alan Tyrrell, Business Development Manger, was presented with the accolade at the award ceremony at Grosvenor House Hotel in London by comedian Patrick Kielty, who hosted the proceedings, and Spencer Clark, Sales Director of boiler manufacturer Potterton, who sponsored the category.

The judges described Invicta as a "benchmark company” with a clear vision of every aspect of its business.  They were impressed with its high level of training for apprentices and non-technical staff, and its extensive use of modern technology "which they used to its absolute maximum”.  They also said that its use of partnering was "a clear and excellent example”.

Invicta is particularly proud to have been chosen because it is a relatively new company.  However, since it was established in July 2003, the company has grown in stature, and has an enviable reputation for its commitment to effective partnering, particularly in the social housing sector.

Alan Tyrrell explains how the company's philosophy underpins the way the whole team works, and that this ethos ensures that everyone works together to forge relationships that have real impact on the quality of their work.  "Our focus is always on the client and end user,” he says.  "We aim to work in harmony with everyone involved in the project and to communicate at all stages.

"We have experienced Resident Liaison Officers who explain to residents what they can expect to happen when we work in their homes.  We provide every resident with a comprehensive information pack including resident's charter, and will make provision for residents with special needs.  The work is carried out with minimum disruption, and when the job is complete all residents are invited to complete a customer satisfaction survey so we can monitor our performance and identify opportunities to enhance our service proposition.

"At the moment we are scoring 2.8 out of 3 for overall satisfaction, so we know that residents are very pleased with the work we do.”

Invicta's main business is refurbishing central heating, kitchens and bathrooms to bring social housing in line with the Decent Homes standard, although it also carries out installations in luxury homes as the result of recommendations from satisfied customers.  The company is also accredited to carry out solar installations.

"We may be a young business,” adds Alan, "but, between them, our 40 employees have clocked up over 500 years of industry experience.  We have proved that maintaining a high quality of workmanship, giving excellent service, communicating at all levels and keeping abreast of modern technologies and legislation are paramount to our success.”
