In-roof

There are many different types of solar heating systems, each of which has its own merits. Our in-roof and on-roof solutions are suitable for both new build and retrofit.

How it works

Potterton Solar is a solar water heating system. Water is heated in an indirect way via a ready mixed water and glycol solution, which circulates inside a pipe network between the solar panel and cylinder coil.

As the solar energy is absorbed by the solar panel, the fluid heats up and is transferred to the cylinder, heating the water via the dedicated solar
cylinder coil.

After leaving the coil, the cooler fluid makes its way back up to the solar panel where the loop process starts again.

The 'indirect' water heating system is one of the most commonly used, easy to to install and consistent systems available.

The flat plate roof panels used to collect the solar energy are not only insulated but they have a sealed glass cover so solar radiation is collected all year round.  Guaranteeed for 10 years, this type of design is as reliable as it is efficient.
