91 year old Mary Fanning at Pentre MawrElderly residents at warden controlled apartments in North Wales are enjoying the warmth thanks to their new Potterton Promax Combi HE boilers.

Old standard efficiency heat only boilers have been replaced with Potterton Promax Combi HE boilers at Pentre Mawr in Abergele, a Grade 2 listed former convent, converted into 34 apartments.  It is part of a sheltered housing scheme run by Clwyd Alyn Housing Association, part of the Pennaf Housing Group.

Alison Pring has been the warden there for nearly 11 years.  She says: "During that time I have witnessed deterioration in the old heating system that left the residents and I frustrated with maintenance issues. Pilot lights on the boilers used to blow out in windy weather, radiators used to get colder when hot water was used for a bath.

"The age group here at the moment is between 60 and 100 years. I was concerned about the age and disability of some residents during the installation.  However, I liaised with the engineers and it only took two to three days to install the new boiler, radiators and wall thermostat.

"Now the residents have instant hot water without waste, and they have made savings on fuel bills, not to mention significant savings for the Association in maintenance.”

Mrs Mary Fanning is 91 yrs old. She is delighted with her new boiler as she finds it simple to use.  The engineer set it for her and she controls it by using the room thermostat. The visiting district nurse was also impressed with how warm the flat was.

Pentre Mawr resident Joyce Card, 74And 74 year old Mrs Joyce Card is also delighted. "There's no need for an expensive immersion heater to top up the hot water,” she says, and I've saved £60 on my quarterly bill. The boiler looks nice and is very easy to use.”

David Lewis is Maintenance Coordinator for Pannaf Housing Group.  "We have a five year partnership agreement with Potterton,” he explains.  "By working closely together we can provide a really good service to our residents.  Our in-house engineers have been trained by Potterton, and understand the boilers inside out.  This means easier, quicker service and maintenance, and less inconvenience for our residents.

"One range of boilers means we need fewer spare parts, and Potterton has provided us with a hospital kit of key components so we can usually achieve a first time fix if we need to attend a resident out of hours.  Potterton's heateam engineers give us a next day service if required, and are always at the end of the phone if we need technical help and support,” he adds.

Potterton is committed to helping to deliver Decent Homes within sustainable communities, meeting the needs of the client, resident and taxpayer, and has many successful, long term partnerships with local authorities, ALMOs, RSLs and procurement consortia.

The Potterton Promax portfolio has a high specification, high efficiency product suitable for almost every domestic situation and Potterton Solar is a complete solar thermal domestic hot water system.  The company is very customer focused, and takes great pride in its long heritage and well earned reputation for reliability.
